How long have you worked in the UAE?
I moved to the UAE almost 12-years ago with my family from the UK. I studied with the plan of staying just two-years and then moving on. I ended up staying a lot longer than intended and began my career working in a nursery as an assistant over eight-years ago, this is where I began to study my first qualification and worked at the same time.
Twelve-years later and I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else, living here in Dubai has been a fantastic opportunity for me and with lots of dedication and challenging work, is becoming the city where dreams can come true.
Tell us about Kids Kingdom.
At Kids Kingdom, we strive to be a leading Early Years setting which offers a safe, nurturing, affordable home from home for children to develop and grow at their own individual pace. Kids Kingdom aims to promote academic, personal, social, emotional, physical and creative development through the British EYFS Framework.
We offer children and their families support to ensure the children in our care have the best possible start to life. Our Centres staff are hand picked for their kind and caring nature, experience and qualifications to ensure that your children are cared for in the best possible way. We are proud to have a diverse variety of cultures at Kids Kingdom and recognise that each child is unique and ‘every child matters’. At Kids Kingdom each child, parent and nursery member are treated as an individual. We understand that parents are the most important people in a child’s life. Hence, we consider parents to be key members of our team.
Working in Partnership at Kids Kingdom
I have a strong passion for working with children and building a partnership with all our families from mothers and fathers to brothers, sisters, grandma and grandad! You are your child’s first educator, which makes it extremely important that we work together to give your child the best possible start to life. I am a strong believer that the first few years of a child’s life is the most valuable time to shape their future, making them keen learners and teaching them the key skills which they will need for the future. We have an open-door policy at Kids Kingdom, meaning you are always welcome to drop by to meet our caring staff and take a tour of our setting.
What is your advice for others hoping to emulate your success?
Always keep updating and continuing with your professional development, this does not always have to be achieved with expensive courses, but take time out to read, research and network. Networking is a wonderful way to make friends with similar interests and learn along the way. Every day will come with new challenges, but focus on the end goal. Believe that you are making a positive impact on the future generation but also aim to make an impact on other professionals in the sector. Alongside this, always support others, celebrate their successes, achievements, and grow with them, make sure they understand that they are appreciated and hold great potential to make a huge difference to a child’s life.
What is the most enjoyable aspect of working in education?
Of course, the number one pleasure every day is the children. By spending time with them, you learn something new every single day, about yourself and about them!
